I have just started using the Word plug-in for Blogger. The first thing I did was remove the checkmark for automatically generate a new title on posting. The title tag is one of the most important elements in SEO, and it’s good to keep explicit control. It’s also good to keep the blog posts on-topic, least you waste the writing you perform on a secondary topic. The topic of this blog is writing for SEO. The Blogger plug-in is one of the more significant developments in writing for SEO, because an important measure is how consistently and prolifically you write. I’ve been guilty, like so many others, of making a half-hearted attempt to build some blogging momentum, but only to lose the momentum due to logging into the Blogger site not being part of my day-to-day process. But loading and working in MS Word certainly is. I don’t see my habits changing anytime soon.
Even with the advent of Web 2.0 and browser-based applications that rival local programs, it will be quite some time before they reach the maturity of Microsoft Word. How can I live without the red squiggles and the Shift-F7 thesaurus? This post really is my first real post using this technology. My prior post about throwing my hat into the SEO ring was from logging in directly at the Blogger site.

Hi Mike,
What Blogger has done is to address this issue, but in a subtle way so as to make sure that blogging and Blogger keep attracting users. However, these only seem to be temporary solutions, or rather shortcuts, which can help bloggers opt for one of the many plugins and tools available to post their content online. But to spread the idea of blogging to non-bloggers, the picture becomes bigger.
I feel that there is still a jump that has to be made in the coming years for the concept to be realized and understood. Till then, let the ‘ancient’ systems and modus operandi prevail.
Thanks for dropping by on my blog.
