TypePad Newsletter ===================

Go beyond blogging with TypePad pages:

With the new TypePad pages feature, you can use all the power of TypePad’s posting tools to create as many individual web pages as you want. The TypePad interface you use every day to update your blog now lets you create a web page as easily as you’d write a post.

The pages have all of TypePad’s widgets and rich media features, automatically inheriting the look and feel you’ve chosen for your blog. You can even set a page to be the home page for your blog, so it’s the first thing readers see when they go to your URL.

To create a page, go to Compose > Page and add page content (text, images, video, etc.) just as you would a post. When you want to update a page, simply open it from the “List Pages” tab and edit and save it as you would a post.

For more information on Typepad Pages, check out our post. Let us know what you create.

A new layout option: 3 Columns Right

We’ve also added a new layout option that lets you layout your blog with two columns side-by-side. The “3 Columns Right” layout is a great design choice for those of you who have a lot of sidebar content you want to group together, and for your users to see without scrolling. We’ve already seen some great uses of this layout.

Many TypePad users are using it to add text ads to the right-most column while keeping traditional sidebar content in the middle column. Others are using it to add detailed “about this site” information to one column, while keeping the other free to display TypeLists. We’re looking forward to seeing more innovative ways you’ll use this feature.

You can select the 3 Columns Right layout in the Design > Layout tab of your blog.

Tip of the month

A tip from a fellow TypePad user: “I wanted a “podcast jukebox” for The Engaging Brand site. So I added a page and then got a free bigcontact.com feed and posted it on the new page. On my main page I then added a photo and link over to it…thought it was quite a neat idea. See it at The Engaging Brand” - submitted by Anna Farmery.
