Every technical development session carries an implicit boundary where exploratory chaos must be collapsed into verifiable reality. In this important essay, we explore the “Notary Beat”—a structured method for sealing context, closing loops, and turning fluid AI-assisted experiments into immutable, CRC-verified checkpoints.
Technical Journal Entry Begins
TL;DR: A working session testing a corpus-summarization command on a personal writing archive of ~1,400 articles. The command renders each article’s pre-computed keyword-and-summary metadata instead of its full text, compressing roughly 4.6 million tokens of source material into about 1,600 tokens — enough to answer “what have I been working on for the past month” inside a single AI context window.
The session’s actual yield was not the summary. Three verification commands were run to check the summary’s claims, and all three returned correct numbers that answered questions other than the ones on their labels: one was truncated by a result cap set by the operator, one was case-sensitive against a corpus that uses mixed case, and one had its interpretation written before its result arrived. Each failure matches a named failure mode already documented in the project’s own rulebook. A separate finding closed a previously open entry in the project’s experiment ledger, and a discrepancy between two file-counting instruments (102 vs 100) remains unexplained and is recorded as open.
